The bad: the very weird story and characters could not keep me interested any longer than half an hour. Not suited for those without patience for bizarre stories. Probably only suited for an arthouse audience.
The good: the acting is great, the story is bizarre, yet kinda mesmirizing up to a point This is a very European film in the best possible sense. Timothy Spall and Peter Stormare, two of the greatest character actors of their generation and woefully unsung underdog heroes put in thoroughly entertaining performances, as choleric genius architect Alfred Rott and the enigmatic Grand Duke, respectively.
The writing is terrific.
